Today for no apparent reason, I am craving sweet chestnut soft serve ice cream, something I nearly missed a train for while visiting my sister in Japan. Even if I had missed the train, it would have been worth it. I thought nothing could beat sakura soft serve, but I was wrong. So, so wrong.
Have you ever craved something you ate once while traveling abroad and have little chance of obtaining?

There was this French crepe shop in Oxford... the savory crepes were amazing... I had one with duck...
ReplyDeleteWas it a Mediterranean-themed place? There was one just one street south of where I lived, and they made this ice cream-chocolate-almond crepe that probably should have been illegal and provided all of the calories you needed for a week, and it was so worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was at Gloucester Green (where they had the open air market every Wednesday). Where did you live? I was on Jericho St., a couple blocks from Jude the Obscure (which inspired me to eventually read some Thomas Hardy, and turns out I liked Far From the Madding Crowd best, both as a pub and a novel).
ReplyDeleteI was pretty far north, a bit west of almost-in-Headington if my sketchy memory is not betraying me with a cheerful laugh. :)
